What is Junior Sailing Club?
The Junior Sailing Club provides organized sailing-related activities
and training opportunities for young people ages 8 to 18. The club is
open to all youth who have an interest in learning to sail. Activities
range from fun open sailing sessions and on-the-water games, to weekly
dinghy racing and participation in regional regattas. Occasional cruising
on bigger boats, field trips to interesting places, and social events
round out the program.
Costs
There is a $50 annual membership in the Junior Sailing Club. Other
costs depend upon the activities that you chose to participate
in. For
example, Open Sailing days may charge $10 a day for the use of
a boat and to help cover the expense of the safety boat. Instructional
courses have posted fees. Weekly club races have a registration of
about $10 each week. Regional regattas
will charge something like $30-$45 for the weekend, but of course, travel
expenses add a lot to that. When we do trips to regattas, field trips
or cruising, we will try to share the costs
involved.
