Commodore's Column

Finally we are getting things done in regard to the reorganization of our Club. Soon we can concentrate on just having fun! The new by-laws will set the stage for our ongoing growth.

I would like to personally invite all members of the Club to come to our next membership meeting which will be on Wednesday evening, March 10, 1999. Although only “Active” and “Life” members can vote, all members are invited and we are interested in, and will listen to, your comments.

This time, we are fully prepared for the meeting! A summary of the proposed by-laws changes is printed in this issue of the Jib Sheet. You can compare the changes to the existing by-laws which are in your BYC Roster. If you have misplaced your roster, be sure to get one from the office (call Joe at 739-1528 to see when he'll be in) or get one at the meeting; we have lots of extra copies. The by-laws , both new and old, are now posted by the office door at the Club, too.

Another reason to come on the 10th (and come early) is to enjoy the great food and beverages planned by Rose and Bob Knudson. We'll also talk a little about the cruises and some of the other fun events coming up.

For example, we have a great dinner cruise to Skyline Marina, Flounder Bay, Anacortes, on the weekend of March 13-14. This is a cruise that's not too far, easy for both power and sail-boaters, and we have reciprocal privileges with the Flounder Bay Yacht Club. If you're planning to go, be sure to call Joe Coons, cruisemaster for this one, at 739-1528 (days or evenings). He'll see to it you have a slip.

Remember, non-boating members can come too! It's about a one-hour drive to the restaurant (see other story in this Jib Sheet) and we'll have cocktails on the boats followed by dinner together about 6:30 at the Flounder Bay Café at the head of the docks. Call Joe to make dinner reservations.
