Fall has arrived, the leaves are turning to their many colors, the boats need to be winterized and your Board has begun to embark on many new and exciting projects. But first, Congratulations to the new restaurant owners, Matthew Taran and Michael Dubuc. They have taken over the Breakwater and are looking forward to many successful years of providing quality food and service to all. I'm sure they would both like to meet you all and share their innovative ideas.
I would like to sincerely thank Mike and Shelly Minge and Jack and Lisa Black for their years of restaurant ownership and the help they provided to the Club. Let's wish them the best in their future endeavors!
It is appropriate that there is new restaurant ownership at this time, for your Board also has some new people. In last month's column I spoke of the time and talent everyone may have to offer the Club. It's been exciting this past month with the number of members who have called and offered their time/talent!
Loraine Boland has volunteered to be the Club Secretary for the year. She brings a wealth of experience to the Board. She's a former Board member, president of the First Mates Auxiliary, Programs Committee member and long time sailor.
Larry Boone has agreed to serve a two year term on the Board as a Trustee. He owns a Hunter 40 and enjoys the Club immensely. His involvement in the community will be an asset for all of us.
John Gargett has also agreed to serve another year. He has a Greeniflite 41, was Chairman of last year's Predicted Log Race and a Board member last year also. Thank you to all of you for stepping up. Your membership appreciates your enthusiasm.
There are many Committees in the Club and all of them require a chairman. This year's chairmen are:
I am still looking for someone to volunteer for the Programs and Membership committees. The Board has promised to help both; if you're interested please call.
There are exciting events coming up this month: the 'Round the County Race and Predicted Log Race on the 6th and 7th. . . a lot of fun and socializing and a great way for members to get together on their boats; then, on November 12th is the annual Sailing Awards Banquet at the Breakwater. Then on November 20th is the Commodore's Ball. You all have received your invitations by now and you must make reservations soon. If you did not get an invitation, please call me ASAP. We're going to have a great dinner, good music and a fun evening! Diane and I hope to see and talk with all of you! Remember the Lighted Boat Parade on December 12th.
AND THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE LAST FRIDAY AT FIVE! See you at the Club!
