Sally Poorman is in the process of finalizing a major re-vamp of the BYC websites, to make information more navigable, bring the site design current, and add some exciting new features for members. This should be rolled out by the end of April, or very early May. One of our new features will be separate websites within the overall website, for Sail Fleet, Cruising, Social Programs, Youth and BYC History and Past Commodores. This is our call for photographs for incorporation into our new design. We are particularly looking for youth sailing photos, and club photos over the years through our new remodel. If you have photos to share , please email Sally. Thank you!

The Bellingham Yacht Club has its very own Facebook page. Come by and check us out at: http://www.facebook.com/BellinghamYachtClub. Post a story, video, picture or just say hi.

Under the leadership of the Sink the Dinghy Fundraising Committee, the Bellingham Yacht Club (BYC) has generously funded a $10,000 2-year full-ride scholarship for a student pursuing a degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture Sciences at Bellingham Technical College. BYC also played an active role in identifying the scholarship recipient. They wanted to provide hope, opportunity and a path to economic self-sufficiency to someone who had endured extreme hardship and overcome challenges such as addiction, abuse, homelessness and economic dislocation. BYC awarded the scholarship to Parris Johnson who is a graduate of the Light House Mission’s New Life Program.

Marian Henderson has provided all the pictures from the 2009 Commodores Ball, and they are available for purchase for $5.00 each and you will get a 5×7. Marian says they are good quality prints. You can click here to see them!

Now keep in mind there are around 350 of them, and they are displayed in the order they were taken, so you may need to look through them to find yours. If it looks like your head is cut off on the main page, it is not. These are just thumbnails. You need to click on the picture to see the full shot. And, these are low resolution images, not full size. If you want them edited, framed, touched up, etc. Then contact Marian and she can tell you how to get in touch with the photographer and you can make your arrangements directly.
