February 2006

If you’re not aware, the round the world Volvo Ocean race (formerly Whitbred) is under way. There are some great video, e-mail, and blog updates, as well as a really cool Visual Spectator that allows you to see near real time performance, barometric pressures, and wind speed directions during the race. You can see the site at www.volvooceanrace.org. The boats are averaging speeds in excess of 20 knots!

Scroll down the left hand menu to the Jib Sheet (Newsletter).  You’ll find the new Jib Sheet as well as all of the archives.

The team representing Bellingham is heading to New Zealand in March, read the Pacific Rim 2006 section of the website for more information.

Well, the Hawks may have lost the game this past Sunday, but that didn’t stop BYC members and guests from having a blast at the BYC’s annual chili cook-off and Superbowl party. Photos, contributed by Steve Moore and myself are now up in the photo gallery section for those interested.
