January 2008

Please join us for the first run of what we hope will become a somewhat regular event.

Where: BYC Lounge
When: Wednesday, February 6th at 5:30pm
Who: Members and invited guests only
What: A tasting of 10 Northwest Region wines

  • Vote on premium wines for the club bar to offer by the bottle
  • Stock your own wine cellar at greatly discounted prices – split a case with a friend.
  • Buy at the same price as restaurants and grocery stores.

Because of the nature of the event, all guests must be signed in and wearing nametags. We’ll be providing light appetizers as well. If you plan on possibly purchasing wine for your home cellar, it is case sales only – so you can split with a friend, but you have the do the work to put together what you want before you place the order. Payment needs to be collected that evening, the wine will come in 1-2 weeks later.

Big thanks to Marsha Riek and Troy Curran for all of their hard work getting this first event to go!

3. You must provide the ladle.

4. You must provide the heat source or cords. The club will provide electricity.

5. You must provide enough Chili to be tasted by all for Trophy consideration.

6. The Club will provide all plates, bowls, plasticware and napkins.

7. If you have won in the past, you must provide a substantially different Chili.

8. All voting will be by those in attendance. Chili Chairman’s decision is FINAL.

9. The winner will have their name engraved on the Perpetual Trophy at the Club.

Join your friends at the club this Friday, with hosts Shelly Haas and Cori Hanson doing “Cajun Style” food. They’ll have Jambalaya, Gumbo, Rice, Salad and Cornbread. Please do bring your appetizers as well. See you at the Club!

This is a new, two-time event that will be gratifying to all who volunteer, especially when it’s done! Building and House Chairperson Wayne Kelsoe is scheduling Pipe Painting Parties on Saturday, February 9 and Saturday, March 8. If you show up at 9AM, Wayne will assign you to a “length of sprinkler pipeline” somewhere in the Club, upstairs or down. We’ll be painting the new pipes the same color as the ceilings so they can “disappear” into the background; think what an improvement that will be! Bring a stepladder if you can, a drop cloth if you have one, and an old cap and shirt so the paint doesn’t “mark you as a professional”. The Club will provide the paint, of course. It’s a good guess that there will be refreshments, and the more volunteers, the merrier, and the quicker it will be done. And you’ll likely be finished by noon, but any time spent volunteering is definitely welcome.
